UNESCO Leerstoelen

De Open Universiteit heeft kennis in huis die van groot belang is voor groeperingen in de maatschappij, buiten de studentenpopulatie. Deze kennis wordt gegenereerd als onderdeel van het primaire proces van onderwijsontwikkeling en -aanbod en onderzoek. Met name als het gaat om vernieuwing van onderwijs kan de OU een bijdrage leveren. Maar ook op thema’s die voor de Open universiteit van belang zijn is kennis beschikbaar die ook maatschappelijk uiterst relevant kan zijn. Dit is zeker het geval voor de thema’s Duurzame Ontwikkeling  (DO) en Open Educational Resources (OER). Voor beide thema’s geldt dat een bijdrage van de OU zowel op nationaal als internationaal niveau hoog wordt gewaardeerd.

Om de maatschappelijke rol van de OU op beide genoemde thema’s te onderstrepen is hieraan nadere invulling gegeven. De OU heeft aansluiting gezocht bij UNESCO als netwerk voor maatschappelijke ontwikkeling d.m.v. onderwijs. Samen met UNESCO is het mogelijk tegelijk op nationaal en op internationaal niveau een bijdrage van betekenis te realiseren.

De samenwerking met UNESCO heeft geleid tot de instelling van twee UNESCO Leerstoelen.

De UNESCO Leerstoelen van de OU:

• UNESCO Leerstoel ‘Kennis transfer voor duurzame ontwikkeling met behulp van ICT’
• UNESCO Leerstoel ‘Open Educational Resources. Studies over strategie, implementatie en impact’

UNESCO Chairs

The Open Universiteit in the Netherlands has knowledge which is important for people and groups outside the student population. This knowledge is generated as part of the primary process of developing and offering education and conducting research. Especially when it comes to innovation in education the OUNL can be a welcome partner. Also on themes considered important for the OUNL knowledge is available that can also be highly relevant to others. This is certainly the case for the themes of Sustainable Development (SD) and Open Educational Resources (OER). The contribution of OUNL to these themes is highly appreciated both nationally and internationally.

To underline the social responsibility of OUNL on the two themes a collaboration with UNESCO, as a network for social development through education, is sought. Together with UNESCO, it is possible both at national and international levels to realize a significant contribution. The collaboration with UNESCO resulted in the establishment of two UNESCO Chairs.
